Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Licence for Wakerley Residents At EDB Training Services

In Australia an elevated work platform (EWP) licence is a certification required to operate boom lifts, scissor lifts, and other types of aerial work platforms. Industries such as construction, warehousing, maintenance, and arboriculture, require obtaining a EWP licence. At EDB Training Services our experienced trainers teach students how to safely use the equipment efficiently. In Australia, there are different types of EWP licence depending on the height and type of equipment. For boom-type EWPs that extend beyond 11 metres, workers need a High-Risk smaller EWPs (under 11 metres), and our training organisation will assist you with issuing a Yellow Card or similar certification.

What is the importance of an EWP Licence for Job Seekers in Wakerley?

There are many reasons for people living in Wakerley to complete a EWP licence, with a strong demand for skilled labour in construction, property maintenance, and logistics. As such, obtaining an EWP licence can significantly improve job prospects in this area for several reasons:

1. Increased Employment Opportunities

Many employers in Wakerley require workers to have an EWP licence, especially in roles such as:

  • Construction labourers
  • Warehouse workers
  • Arborists and landscapers
  • Maintenance personnel
  • Telecommunications and electrical workers

As such, holding an EWP licence demonstrates that you have the required skills to work at heights, making you a more attractive candidate for these roles.

2. Workplace Safety Compliance

Australian workplace safety laws are strict when it comes to working at heights. An EWP licence ensures that operators understand:

  • Proper safety procedures
  • How to inspect and maintain EWP equipment
  • Load limits and weight distribution
  • Emergency procedures

Employers prefer hiring licensed workers to avoid non-compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations. This reduces workplace accidents and potential legal liabilities.

3. Higher Earning Potential

Qualified EWP operators often earn more than unlicensed workers. Many businesses offer higher wages to employees with additional certifications, as they can handle specialised tasks like operating boom lifts on construction sites or reaching high storage areas in warehouses.

4. Versatility in the Job Market

Having an EWP licence allows job seekers to work across multiple industries. Whether it’s a short-term project or long-term employment, having this qualification provides flexibility and job security.

5. Employer Preference and Job Readiness

Employers in Wakerley and surrounding areas look for candidates who are job-ready. An EWP licence shows that an applicant is proactive, trained, and immediately able to contribute to the workplace without additional training costs.
